2/15 Lake Lanier
With January's tournament rescheduled due to inclement weather, this was technically our first tournament of the year. The weather was horrible with temps in the mid to upper 40's and pretty much rain all day with the hardest downpour coming at weigh in. Kathy started the year where she finished off last year, kicking everyone's butt. She was the only one with a limit and came in first with 5 for 11.7lbs. Frenchy was 2nd with 3 for 8.1lbs and big fish, a 5.04 largemouth and Steve had 4 for 6.74 to claim 3rd place. Maurice won co angler honors with 1 fish for 4.34lbs. A total of 21 fish were caught weighing 49.24 pounds; 18 spots and 3 largemouths were caught. All members participated in this tournament except Al, Dan and prospective member Mack.
3/8 Lake Lanier
This tournament was our make up tournament from January and was a team tournament. It was cloudy and cool with brief periods of drizzle during the day. Water temp is starting to creep up and the color above Brown's bridge was stained to slightly stained. The fishing was good with all but one team coming in with a limit and several fish in the four plus pound range were caught. Kelly and Mason came in first with 5 for 14.54lbs and big fish of 4.72lbs (LM). Dan and Maurice came in 2nd with 5 for 14.28lbs and Ron and Jules came in 3rd with 5 for 12.32lbs. A total of 42 fish were caught (4 LM and 38 spots) for 105.44lbs. Kristen Risley caught her first fish as a new member of the club and ended up having 2 of her fish contributing to their bag at weigh in. All members participated in this tournament except Al.
03/15 Lake Allatoona
This was our first trip to Allatoona this early in a year and it was met with cloudy skies in the morning and partly cloudy in the afternoon with comfortable temperatures throughout the day. The water was stained and in the upper 50's to low 60's. The lake had been down significantly but the rain throughout the week helped to raise it making the ramp and dock a non-issue. The fishing was good with everyone catching at least one fish. Kelly came in first with 5 for 12.16lbs. Maurice came in 2nd with 5 for 10.88lbs and Ron came in 3rd with 5 for 10.26lbs. Jules was the top co-angler with 5 for 10.18 and he had big fish, a 4.4 largemouth. A total of 66 fish were caught (61 spots & 5 LM) for 120.38lbs. All members participated in this tournament except Kile.
04/18-19 Lake Guntersville
The 2 day tournament started with a bang with Team Kelly and Scott posting a 20+lb bag on Saturday including a largemouth of 6.74lbs from Kelly and 5.5lbs from Scott, both of which won big fish on the angler and co-angler side. Day 1 saw 4 teams posting limits with only .24lbs separating 2nd through 5th place. Overnight the weather changed with some higher winds and rain and the temperatures dipped into the mid 40's. The bite was a little tougher on day 2 but Kelly and Scott were unfazed posting another limit and finishing their day with a combined weight of 36.28lbs. Mike and Tristan, who were in 2nd place after day 1, posted another limit and the best weight of day 2 at 16.22lbs helping them to lock down 2nd place with a combined weight of 27.84lbs. Steve and Jules posted a limit on day 2 and leap frogged from 7th into 3rd with a combined weight of 21.38lbs. On day 2 Scott Umberger caught another 5lb LM as did Mark P and JD while Ron caught a keeper smallmouth. Most notable of the tournament was that Al didn't get lost. Overall, 52 fish were weighed in totaling 153.9lbs of which 51 were LM and 1 SM. All members fished the 2 day tournament except Dan, Kile and Maurice. I'd like to recognize Mink Creek cabins for their outstanding lodgings. This was our second time staying there as a club and was very appreciative with them working with us. Additionally, the Dugout Bait and Tackle in Marietta came through again helping to sponsor this event providing an array of tackle and equipment as prizes along with Jeff Nail who graciously donated a guided half day trip on Lanier. Thanks to all who participated and donated for making this another great president's tournament.
